_ The New Piracy: From Search To 'Search And Destroy'
A entrevista:
• Why did you and your friends want to start Bolachas Grátis?
All Bolachas’s members are Fórum Sons’s members too (Fórum Sons is a portuguese forum about music) and we want to share albums between us, so we create this blog because we don´t want the forum associate with these ilegal share.
• What kind of praise have you gotten for your blog?
Just some good feeback in the comments.
• It seems you are all big fans of American music. Do you ever highlight Portuguese artists on your blog?
Rarely. Even existing very good portuguese music we don’t have the habit to share it on our blog. It’s not a rule, we just don’t use to do it.
• What do you do differently between Escafandro and Bolachas Grátis?
Escafandro is a personal blog were I write mostly about music. It’s a blog for me and my friends. I think that’s not very important for other people.
• How do you get your music so much earlier than the release date?
From other share blogs. I do not use more p2p programs.
• Have record labels ever contacted you asking you to remove a link?
Just two, maybe three times. And, obviously, I remove the link.
If I had a record label I look for share blogs like a friend that help the promotion of the bands/albuns and not like an enemy. The artist don’t make money only by salling albuns, in realy the bigger part of this money goes for labels and other people, the bands take the money in the concerts and they only have people on the concerts if people knows them, and blogs like Bolachas Grátis gives the divulgation that they need.
But most of the record labels don´t think like that and, if they want, I remove the links.
• Have you ever been afraid your site might get shut down?
I don’t think much about that. If they shut down Bolachas Grátis we create another blog or get another way to share the albuns or just don´t share it.
• Are the laws strict in Portugal about music sharing?
It’s just forbidden. The laws in Portugal about music are very antiquated.
• What’s the best thing about running your site?
Share good music.
